Living Behind A Mask

I know you can picture it...a grand ballroom overflowing with elegant gentlemen and beautiful ladies in their silk gowns . Gracefully they circle the room to the tune of soft stringed instruments. The jewels from their befeathered masks twinkle in the candlelight.... the masks that will be taken off at midnight.

So often in our own lives we live behind a mask. As I read in I Kings 14:1-5 I started thinking about how easy it is to hide our true selves to those around us. We learn so easily how to act correctly in the proper circles. It's one thing to disguise yourself before people but never before an Almighty God. The Queen disguised herself, dressed in pheasant's rags, and went to the prophet for what could be called a noble cause. Why is it that she never had any use for the prophet of God when she was living her self indulgent wicked lifestyle. Like the Queen in this story who laid aside her royal robe and crown to seek the man who could help her, many around us today are seeking the truth. She fooled the people in the palace....and she fooled the peasants that she might have passed on the road..but God knew who she was and as soon as she entered the prophet's house he called her by name. (v. 6) Remove your mask. You're not fooling God. Serve Him to the fullest and you will live happily-ever-after. The thrill of the Ball lasts only for the night...the joy that the Lord can give you is for eternity.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9
