Who Ate the Last DOUBLE STUFFED OREOS on the Island???

Beautiful...aren't they?

Actually the case was wrapped up pretty fast....it was easy to find the 2 culprits.
Their mug shots would look a little like this...sweaty little short people with incriminating chocolate cookie crumbs all around their lips.
The crime scene included a short little stepping stool scooted up to the kitchen countertop.  It was kinda my fault....I had a craving for my stashed double stuffed oreos about 2 a.m.  the night before.  My MIL had brought them to me in Jan. and I’ve been eating a few at a time. This time I forgot to hide them back in my secret spot.  And...in all honesty...who can resist the temptation?  I forgave them.
Monday to Wednesday, we spent some time, with some fellow missionaries in Kingston.  The Capitol city in on the other side of the Island, so we don’t see them very often.  They are the same age as us, with little kids also.  We had so much fun.  Tuesday night, their helper watched the kids and we all went out to supper and ICE CREAM.  In Kingston, there is a Haagen Dazs ice cream parlor.  It is really to amazing to describe.  When you enter, it is small kinda like the size of a Starbucks.  With air conditioning (!!!!) and leather couches and chairs to sit on.  The atmosphere is so “American”.   It was so wonderful to take an hour and pretend we weren’t in a third world country.  I had the ice cream flavors Tiramisu and Cappuccino Truffle.  Drizzled in Dark Chocolate and whipped creme!   Back to reality.....it’s probably a good things we don’t live in Kingston!

I think it should be illegal to post pictures like that where pregnant missionaries might see them. Up 'til now, I have really enjoyed reading your posts, but might have to stop following you if you continue to post pictures of food. ;) I have to say that I am amazed that they have lasted that long! They MIGHT have made it a week at our house...or maybe 2 days?

Kayte, I know the ice cream was just too wonderful! I've really enjoyed reading your blog. I'm kinda partial to little girls named Eden Grace. Maria

Jessica, so sorry! I know exactly what you mean. We had a Pastor from the States here a few months ago and he talked about Krispie Kremes from the pulpit. I dreamed about them for 3 days! (giggle) Maria

Maria, I was thinking about the friends you have in Kingston. Do you know the Kimmels? TJ and Christa graduated the same year my hubby and I did from HAC and I believe they are in Kingston... just wondering if you know them.

Kayte, Yes!!! We first met them on deputation about 4 years ago. And didn't meet them again until we ran into each other at the grocery store this past January. We live on opposite sides of the Island, but we've got together 3 times since then. They are great. I didn't know you went to HAC. Maria

Such a small world, huh? (At least it is when you are a Christian!)

Yup, I went to HAC in Jan 2000 and Seth came Sept. 2000. We both graduated May 2004. How else would a California girl end up in NY? =)

I'm glad you have some American friends there in the feild!

Christa has been such an encouragement to me. The first time she came over to my house, I felt so comfortable with her. It was so good for me to laugh with a girlfriend, I hadn't realized how much I missed that. God is so good to me! - Maria
