Cupcakes by Candlelight

Life is good. The Princesses are playing on a quilt by my feet. We’re sitting out on the veranda enjoying the “cool” (it’s not quite reached 90 yet) morning breeze and the chirping birds.

We had our 2nd teen meeting for Spot Valley Independent Baptist Church last night. We were excited to have 4 teens come. Josh had a short devotion with them, then they dealt out the cards to play UNO. Before we had a chance to even play one card....the electricity went out and we were sitting in the dark.

(Thankfully my camera has an amazing flash and I was able to get these pictures....it really was quite dark!)

The American in me wanted to stomp around the room and whine “why does the electricity always go off in the most important times?” “Boo...hoo...Hoo!” “Life never goes by MY schedule!” Thankfully I didn’t give in.

The Jamaican in me {with God’s Amazing Grace} just went to get the candles to put on the table. The kids weren’t even phased. They deal with it all the time. It’s just a way of life. The princesses knew the drill and reacted very well.

Even with out lights and fans, we had so much fun with the teens. There were lots of laughs and jokes and teasing. We ended the evening with cupcakes, Cheetos, and lemonade.

By the time we had dropped the kids off and drove back home...the lights were back on. Yeah! We get to sleep with the fans on...I’m happy.
