I love it! I have always had straight hair and would do this with socks overnight as a kid/teenager. Now, as an adult, I lost alot of my hair after being extremely sick in 2009 with the H1N1 virus (medically induced coma and alot of drugs pumped into my body). Now that it's grown back, I've got large curls on the bottom. Odd!
As a little girl I used to always want curls, so my mom would do this faithfully every night for me and helped me take them out every morning. I'm not sure where she found out how to do it, but it was only a handful of years ago, as I'm a young adult now.
I never did get those curls I wanted, but now I am so happy that I don't have curly hair. I have so many options with straight hair (including curling it!) and I don't have to fight with my hair like some of my friends do.

My Grandma used to do this, but instead of felt she used brown paper bag strips. Now, that's old school.
:-)
My mom used to put these in my hair when I was little, but I couldn't have told you exactly how she did it. How fun to see this little tutorial! :-)
What a cool idea! Never heard of it before....it is *totally* old school.
