"You Are My Inspiration" Board

Wow, that's a first!
This never happens.
Someone I know put this piece of furniture on the street by the trash.
You just don't see this here....ever.
Since we don't have any dressers....
I convinced Prince to help me drag it into our yard!
I've been sanding on it in my spare time.
We were thrilled to find it is mahogany wood....and it's all real!
Ok, I was more thrilled then Prince....but things like that excite me.
It's a treasure.
I'm planning on turning it into a t.v. stand.  The top had a mirror frame...but I didn't care for that so Prince unscrewed that part.

I started thinking about all that wood just laying there begging me to be used for something creative.

So...I had 3 sides.   Humm.....I hammered and tugged and shook and grunted and sawed until I got another piece of wood to finish my "frame".   I saw somewhere the idea of using chicken wire to pin your do-dads on.  Perfect.

I played with the idea of making my frame smaller to fit the piece of chicken wire, but I like the vintage look just like it is.

After I got the frame like I wanted I painted it two shades of green.  I used Prince's {scary} staple gun to make the chicken wire stay in place.
I let the princesses help me pick out different scrap book paper to make the banner.  I had thought about modge podgin' in place.  But then decided on dabbing on hot glue instead incase I wanted to change the look later.  Worked just peachy.

I added some 3-D stickers I've been hoarding for something special.
I'm thinking of glueing on some medium size clips on the bottom.  Any ideas about that?

Beautiful! I need to do that in my work area. I have regular pictures up, but I'd love to put up fun ones of the kids, and of course my husband.

This looks wonderful, such a great idea, I'm thinking of making one myself. I think the addition of some clips would be great!

I did the same thing with a large frame I found at a garage sale for $5. All I had to do was attatch the chicken wire. I've used it as a display to hang Christmas cards we have received, and I've also used it as a board to hang my seed packets in the garden shed (using clothes pins). LOVE IT!!!!!
