T' Shirt to Tea Party Gloves

I don't know about you, but I think wearing gloves is a lost art in modern womanhood.  I know they're highly impractical, but in my mind's eye gloves are so romantic.

I've seen and played with my own t' redos and love how easy t'shirt material is to sew.

Playing Dress-up is almost a daily occurrence at our house.  Somewhere in between breakfast and bedtime prayers it is very common to see someone flounce by wearing a silk ball gown, a bright pink feather boa, or some {very loud} plastic high heels.  For a while, I've been fiddling around with the idea of making tea party gloves for my girlies to play in.  (Please note: I'm the farthest thing from a seamstress.  And I'm also the farthest thing from a perfectionist.  If it works for me...I'm happy.)  This is what I came up with.

I want to be clear that you pin the front and back of the shirt together.  So when you get done tracing you'll see the right hand's glove and the left hand's glove.  One princess wanted really long gloves that went past her elbow, and I made short ones for the little princess.

Note: I used the bottom hem of the t' shirt for the bottom of gloves...worked perfect.

Also, you want to make the fingers BIG.  Not only so they'll fit good, but my idea is....I don't want to have to spend 5 minutes putting them on all the time.  The more loose they are the faster they'll slip over the little sweaty fingers....am I right?

The secret pocket was Princess Moriah's idea.  Bless her little creative noggin'.  So mysterious and fun.
For the most part I let them design and decorate their own gloves.  I put my foot down when Princess Alexis wanted to paint fingernails on it...each a different color!   I did hot glue lace around the ends.  For the diamonds we used some hot glue and some tacky glue.  We wanted to see which would hold the best.
We had fun and I'm pretty happy with the turn out.
So how about it?  Any tea parties in your future?

Please be a dear, if you use this idea please link back to my site.  Thank you, very much.

Don't forget about my current give-away!

Very very cute idea!!! I have one sugg. And that is ti clip into the seam around the fingers where they connect to the hand. You will be amazed how much flatter they lay and should fit even better.
You are so creative and such a good mommy!!
