T' Time Christmas Challenge {#1}

I can't believe that Christmas is only a week away.

I had so many big plans but with keeping house, schooling the children, and Church responsibilities it's hard to get everything done.

I {super-duper} love the idea of doing an Advent calendar with your children.  Some day I hope to do that....some day.  I decided to put my foot down and focus on Christmas each day this week with my girlies.  So we're doing our own condensed version of an advent calendar.

Come along and join the challenge!

Take the Time to Christmas Challenge #1......
    is All About Jesus in the Manger

1. for penmanship we wrote out verse  Matthew 1:21
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."

2. Make a Stable (gingerbread house)  This was really messy, but the good messy that clean-up is so tasty!
3. I brought back a manger scene window cling from the States.  Eden and I worked on rearranging this and putting it on the side of the chest freezer.  This worked great because it was where she could see it, and we don't really have glass windows.
4. The princesses have the Fisher Price Nativity set and several times we've arranged it under the tree.  Last year, Eden received the Inn Keepers house also and so we have a complete circle that goes around the Christmas tree.  It looks different every day.  And some little character has put a tiger in with the regular stable animals.
Today, we started with just the basic circle.  I read the Christmas story out of my Bible and the girls arranged the people and animals as the story went along.

I love seeing the Christmas Story come alive!

Cute ideas! Love the concept of building a stable instead (or with) a gingerbread house. Def. borrowing that idea! I didn't do an advent calender this year.... just didn't go started soon enough. But maybe we can do condensed version in these last few days.... hmmmm. wheels in my head turnin'!
