We're Having a Baby...My Baby and Me

Well I've been sitting on a secret for long enough...actually the secret is sitting on me! Can anyone guess?  We are expecting baby number 4!  I'm really praying for a little boy, but if I have to change my name to raising4princesses, that would be fine also.

Now we have the big decision of having the baby here in Jamaica or going back to the States.  This has become a very hard decision for me.  Before I moved here, I would tell anyone who asked that I'd never have a baby in a developing country.  Now that I live here...and have my comfortable home here....I'm not that willing to go back to "living out of a suitcase" in other's homes for 6 months.  Might be hard for some to understand, but this is my HOME.  Please don't think I'm being melodramatic or over-sentimental.  But it's kinda nice staying in one place for awhile.

Yesterday, Joshua took the girls and I out to see a private hospital in Montego Bay.  I can honestly say that it was nice.  There were clean, private rooms, relatively modern equipment and the nurse showing us around was friendly.  There is a lady doctor that works there and hopefully we can get in to see her soon.  Because of my blood type I have to get a rhogam shot  during my pregnancy.  I HATE needles, but this shot is particularly painful.  One concern is that the shot used to be made with mercury in it, they don't do that in the States anymore....but sometimes rules and regulations vary in different countries.

I do have some apprehension about having the baby here, but I'm praying that God will give me peace about what to do.  My mom has been with me for all my girls and Josh's mom was with me for two of them.  I don't like the idea of having the baby without them there...not that Joshua isn't very supportive.  I just remember in my "hazy labor-pained mind" seeing him sitting in a chair with a cold wash cloth on his forehead.  (chuckle) I'm never gonna let him forget that!

Please pray for this important decision.  We are going to the American Embassy, today, to see what the regulations are.

Congrats Maria and Josh! And girls!! We are excited for you. I know that God will give you peace and direction on where you should have the baby. We got to see your in-laws again last month. We really enjoyed the fellowship with them when he was working here in Houston. I know they are so excited, too! I bet she'd be excited to come there to be with you if you decide to have the baby there! You are all in our prayers!

Hmmm... a little prince sounds nice!

The availability of an epidural would definitely be the deciding factor for me! :)

Such wonderful news Maria. I hope its a boy for you and Josh too. I know you will love it no mater what. But girl let me tell you right now, if it is a boy you better watch out. There is just something special about having a boy after all those girls. I love my girls but there is just something different about that little boy of mine. I can't wait to hear what this baby will be. We will be praying for the decisions you have to make. I understand totally about wanting to stay in one place. Jamacia is your home now and there is truly no place like home.

Congratulations! How precious! I know you would like to have a boy, and that would be sweet, but having four girls is a double, double, sweet blessing. Take it from one who knows! We are now getting our boys in grandsons! I'll pray the Lord gives you wisdom. Take care! Gail

Congratulations, Maria!! So happy for you and your hubby! You may not remember me, I met you at Heritage Baptist Church in Palmyra, NY about 2 years ago. That's the same church that Amy Senecal and Julia Charland attend. I want you to know that you have been a personal blessing to me as I have read your blog and your posts on Facebook! You'll never know this side of Heaven what you've meant to me! I will be praying for you and your baby, and that the Lord will make it clear as to what to do! May the Lord bless you and your family there in Jamaica! Love, Katie

I remember you very well, Mrs. Katie! You had us over for supper and we had brownies and ice cream for dessert. And you let me do laundry at your house! May God Bless you! Love, Maria
