With THIS Ring

My emotional pregnant hormones are in full swing the last few days! My poor family! I'm shaky...weepy...short-tempered. I debated whether I should even sit behind the computer keys....who knows what I'd type!?! I'm afraid of scaring any of my friends away...I might start screaming and crying and running around yelling, "Just give me some Krispie Kreme!!!!"

So to steer away from completely freaking anyone out, I think I'll try to put some polish on an article I started a few weeks ago. It's been sitting in my drafts, just waiting for a day when I was having a "melt-down".

This is a picture of me laying on our roof, looking at my sweet, perfect, simple wedding band. Notice the missing engagement ring? It is wiser to not wear anything flashy or expensive here. I laugh a little...because my engagement ring doesn't really fall into that category! But i'd hate to lose it...so it's sitting in a bank in Louisiana. Better safe then sorry.

If you had one word to describe your wedding ring...what would it be. I've thought hard about this. What would my word be?

Romance? Remember that tingly, butterfly flutter that just the sight of his face gave you?

Security? The feeling that he can solve any problem and make all right in your world.

Pride? He's all yours! No one elses. Remember the feelings that you'd have when you were first married, and you walked into a room holding his hand.

Bliss? (hehe)

Happily-ever-after? White picket fence...cozy little home with shutters...and an apple tree? For us...it was a diesel pickup truck with my 22 foot suitcase hitched on the bumper.

Change? Good bye stable old Missouri...hello........?..world.

Power? Don't try to pretend that you don't have power over your hubby! Not the "chase him around the kitchen table with a rolling pin" kind of power. I'm talking about the power you have over the words you say. Or, I've known woman who have changed their husbands whole lives by one mistake/decision she's made.

I really can't put my finger on the right word. I guess I'm just happy that I've got HIS ring on MY finger.

If you had one word what would it be?

Commitment, definitely. I still feel a thrill every single time I see my husband's wedding band on his finger - He's taken. He's MINE. And I treasure my own rings that say the same about me. I belong to him. But most of all, I love what they represent. We took the time to do things right. We married in God's will and no matter how I feel and no matter how he feels, we are committed to one another for life. Can you beat that?
Love your picture, by the way. :)

I am not sure what ONE word I would use....but I too like to see his ring on his finger and love to wear the one he gave me. The past several days (especially the past 24 hours) I have been reflecting on our marriage and what it means to me. Saturday, 5/22, we will celebrate our 12th anniversary. I'm so thankful for my husband. How thrilled I am to married to him. I look forward to MANY more.

I have just recently started following your blog. I sure enjoy it! Our family serves the Lord in Estonia (reaching the Russian speaking people). We have four childre (10, 9, 7, and 3). I would LOVE to have another one, but right now God's answer is no. God knows best and I trust Him.

You have a beautiful family. Love all the pictures.

Happiness... I waited 21 years for true happiness. I was promised it... by my pastor, youth director, teachers, bus workers, etc... if I would just TRUST them and their advice to do things God's way.

And, HAPPY I am! (And grateful for those who cared enough to steer me in the right direction!)

It wasn't even picket fences I was hoping for. It was love... in the purest sense. And I am HAPPILY in love with my man!

My ring means a lot to me also. But one word? I would have to say complete. He completes me and I complete him. Now I am whole.
