Opening the Pickle Jar

Feb 14 - Valentine's Day
As I was doing my devotions this morning I turned to Proverbs 14.  I prayed a short prayer that God would speak to me and in the back of my mind I was hoping that it would be something about "love or marriage".  I'm a hopeless romantic!  {deep sigh with a quirky little smile}

The first vs. says "Every wise woman buildeth up her house" so I said, "Thank you, Lord, I'll try to be WISE and build up my husband to have a good house for him and my princesses."

But the Lord wasn't done.  I read vs 4.  "Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox."

How romantic is that????!!!??  How many other ladies have an "ox" back home?  Well literally I don't have a real ox in "me yard", but I wouldn't be to surprised if some of my neighbors do!  {smile}

I heard a story once about and older woman sitting at her kitchen table with her friend.  Maybe sharing a cup of tea.  The lady's husband came in from outside and leaving his muddy boots on tracked through the clean kitchen floor.  The friend was outraged and spouted off, "I can't believe you let his muddy boots come in the house."  The wife said, "I don't complain because those boots bring him in."

Home run, me girlies!  How many times have I been scrubbing my floors, on my hands and knees, and Prince comes traipsing through leaving a trail behind.  More times then I wish to remember!   More importantly how many times have I ranted and raved about his causing more work with his careless ways.  Again....more times then I wish to remember!  Tsk....tsk...ladies.

So getting back to the vs., no oxen = clean house, but the strength of the ox is sure nice to have around.   Kinda like no man = clean house, but he sure is nice to have around (most of the time).  And I'm not talking about just his strength to open the pickle jars!

My wonderful mom-in-law leaves tomorrow to come back to the States.  She volunteered to watch the princesses tonight so Prince and I could go out on one last date.  We went to a romantic little restaurant called the Three Palms and ate by candlelight.  So special.

Hi Maria,
I just wanted to leave you a comment to let you what a blessing you've been to me through your blog, I suppose you could call me a "lurker" always reading but never commenting, I found it through "daily pleasures" I attend the same church as Amy. Anyway you make me laugh out loud with your humor (I feel I have much the same sense of humor perhaps thats why I find it so funny) your constant references to "princes" "princesses" and "fairy dust" shows your wonderful ability to invite the glorious into the mundane. Your sacraficial life as a missionary along with your sweet spirit to do so inspires me daily to do what I can for the Lord amoung all my many comforts here in the US. Your girls are all so beautiful and make me laugh as well, congrats on the new bundle she's sweet.
I have two precious bundles as well, a 2.5 year old and a 9 month old, and I feel I have my hands full, so I am sure your life is very busy but thanks for taking the time to be a blessing with your blog.

I just found your blog through Raising Homemakers, I think it is wonderful. We have dear friends who are also missionaries in Jamaica and I loved reading about your life there. I am amazed at how you are able to raise a family there with the challenges you must face...I find enough challenges here in NC raising my 3!

Blessings,
Your New Follower :)
