From Sea To Shining Sea

Yesterday we took a trip over the mountain to the capitol city.   One thing about living on an Island...well one of many things...you can go from coast to coast in a few hours.

Hop into the van for the ride.  I saved you a front row seat.  I hope you don't get car sick.

(it's a very common sight to see people riding in the back of trucks or on top)

(School house)

(Government road sign..."Don't be in a hurry to enter Eternity".)

(Appropriately called "flat bridge".  One lane and no edges!)

(I love the way this old building looked.
There is something so beautiful about the old stones.)

(There's the Sea!)

(Be careful not to just pass this one up!  We were still coming down the mountain and all of a sudden these bright colors in the sky caught my eye.  Someone was flying kites.  They were so beautiful.  I wanted so badly to get a picture, but we were moving to fast and there were so many trees in the way.  Can you see it?  It has a long tail.)

(Truckload of sugar cane)

(I fell in love with this hillside.  The picturesque groups of houses blend so harmoniously on the hillside)

Thank you for coming along for the ride.  It was a beautiful day.

There were 2 mental pictures that I would have loved to get, but at the speed the traffic goes if you blink you miss everything.

One was an old grandfather with a long beard sitting on an old concrete bench.  He was holding a tiny baby girl and they were clapping their hands and laughing......priceless.

The other one was two school boys.  Dressed in their brown uniforms.  They were both barefooted, carrying their school shoes and splashing home in the rain.  Resplendent smiles on their faces and they raced around the puddles....beautiful.  {deep sigh}

I love Jamaica.

I am so happy that you have such a wonderful family. I remember you always saying you wanted 7 children, what will you do if they are all princesses? You are truly a blessed woman and friend. You mission work touches more lives than you can imagine. Stay safe, always in our prayers. Kattie, Michael, Hailey and Jewley
